NSH Atlanta - Gwinnett Endo
Our Northside Hospital Gwinnett endoscopy renovation redesigned an existing surgery suite to accommodate a new and expanded endoscopy department. We created six procedure rooms—four to be in use after construction was completed and two future rooms—with associated support spaces, including two care team stations, pre-op and post-op areas.
[We strategically placed clinical and support programs to not only facilitate efficient workflows throughout the department and the rest of the facility, but also for the patient-staff experience with limited demolition or interventions that would undermine the budget or existing conditions that were present and available for the new program.
Pre-op and PACU bays were designed to allow for both patient privacy and staff visibility, along with two private rooms for those needing additional care provisions or isolation. The design/construction schedule was fast-paced with a compressed timeline of nine months.
The design team had to work closely and efficiently with the contractor to manage overlap between the start of construction and finalizing important design decisions. Aesthetically, we had the freedom of introducing new finishes while tying in existing hospital standards, resulting in an efficient and beautiful space that provided all amenities needed for the new department.
